This project is a sustainable oil lamp designed through the reuse of discarded glass jars generated in everyday life. The core approach of the design is to extend the lifecycle of household waste materials by transforming them into an aesthetic, functional, and long-lasting lighting product. By repurposing waste jars that are easily accessible to users, the product aims to integrate sustainability awareness into daily life while encouraging environmental consciousness.
The glass jar located at the lower section of the product functions as the fuel reservoir for the lamp oil. The height of the wick immersed in the oil can be easily adjusted through a mechanism positioned within the central cap component. To enhance user experience, this mechanism has been designed to operate both manually and with the assistance of a coin. In this way, the flame height and light intensity can be adjusted practically according to the user’s needs.
The ventilation holes integrated into the cap design provide controlled airflow, helping the flame burn in a stable, safe, and efficient manner. At the center of the product, the parabolic reflective surface enables light to spread more effectively and in a controlled direction, improving the illumination performance of traditional oil lamps.
The metal wire handle positioned at the upper section allows the product to be carried, hung, and adapted to various usage scenarios with ease. This detail supports the product not only as a stationary lighting object, but also as a portable lifestyle product.
JarLamp is a portable and durable lighting design that embraces a sustainable lifestyle approach, where waste materials are transformed into valuable and functional objects once again.
